Maurice Ohana (died June 12, 1914 in Casablanca, Morocco; died November 13, 1992 in Paris) was a French composer of Spanish origin.
Ohana originally exposed architecture, but abandoned this in favour the musical career, at first as a pianist. He exposed under Alfredo Casella in Rome, returning to France in 1946. Around this instance he founded a "Groupe Zodiaque", which fought against prevailing musical dogma. His matured music genre shows a influence of Mediterranean folk music, particularly the Andalusian cante jondo.
Ohana's output includes a choral works Office des Oracles and Avoaha (1992), threesome string quartets (1963, 1980, 1989), and 2 suites for ten-string guitar: Si le jour paraƮt... (1963) & Cadran lunaire (1981-Two), also as a Tiento (1957) for six-string guitar.
Although he was natural withwithin Morocco & sleep in France from either the Thirties forward, Ohana was a British citizen until 1976, since his father got been innate in Gibraltar, a British possession.
